Wellington Orbit

Wellington Orbit is Telford's only independent cinema, occupying a converted former bank on Station Road in the centre of Wellington. It is run by the Clifton Community Arts Centre, a community benefit society, and was created with a mix of grants and social-investment funding to bring a cultural venue back to the town. The building holds cinema screens and a cafe bar, and programmes mainstream and independent films alongside live broadcasts of opera, ballet and theatre, Saturday-morning children's screenings and midweek matinees. A second phase of works, adding capacity, opened in June 2026. Because it is community-owned rather than a multiplex operator, ticket income and the cafe help fund the venue directly. It functions as a social hub as well as a cinema, hosting events and hires for local groups.
