Rowton Brewery was set up in October 2008 by Jim Preston in a converted Victorian cattle shed on his family's farm at Rowton, north of Telford, and later joined by his sons Steve and Peter. The brewery relocated to the Pheasant Inn on Wellington's Market Street in 2017, where it now brews six-barrel batches using Maris Otter malt, hops sourced internationally and water drawn from its own borehole. Beers including Rowton Bitter and Intergalactic Pale Ale carry branding built around the Rowton meteorite, an iron meteorite that struck the village in 1876 and remains the only one recorded hitting the ground in the UK. The brewery was named Telford & East Shropshire CAMRA's Brewery of the Year for 2025, and beer is sold through its online shop for collection.
