Whitelock's Ale House occupies a narrow yard off Briggate in Leeds city centre, on a site licensed as the Turk's Head in 1715 and renamed by the Whitelock family in the 1880s. The long, narrow bar retains its 1895 remodel: mosaic tiled floor, marble-topped counter, brass rails and etched mirrors, largely unchanged for over a century. It was Grade II listed in 1963 and upgraded to Grade II* in 2022 in recognition of its intact Victorian interior. Cask ales are served alongside a rotating guest beer list, with simple pub food available at lunchtime. Prince George reportedly visited in 1912. The pub is entered through Turk's Head Yard, an alleyway connecting Briggate to the Victoria Quarter, and remains a single independent site under continuous licensed trade since the eighteenth century.
