Steve Nuttall opened Wayward Wines on Regent Street in 2017, after several years spent visiting small wine bars across Europe convinced him Leeds needed somewhere to taste natural, low-intervention wine before buying it. The shop pours organic and biodynamic bottles from producers in France, Italy and Spain by the glass at a bar counter, with the same stock available to take home from shelves behind it. Beer and cider sit alongside the wine list for drinkers who want something else. Growth in direct imports from small growers eventually outgrew the shop's storage, so Wayward now keeps a temperature-controlled warehouse on Brussels Street for stock and larger events, while retail and tastings stay on Regent Street. The shop keeps a short week, open Thursday to Saturday only, closed the other four days including Sunday.
