Wortley Farm Shop trades from a unit on Park Avenue in Wortley village, on the Barnsley side of the Don valley between Sheffield and Penistone. The shop is family-run and sells fresh meat, home-made pies and sausage rolls, a deli counter of cheeses, cooked meats and sandwiches, seasonal vegetables, and a shelf of jams, preserves, sauces and honey sourced from producers across Yorkshire. A roast-of-the-day is served on Thursdays and Fridays, and the counter does a steady lunchtime trade in hot and cold sandwiches for people working nearby. Produce is bought in from farms across South Yorkshire rather than a single estate, with the shop acting as a retail outlet for smaller growers and butchers who would otherwise have no counter of their own. It opens six days a week, Tuesday to Sunday, and is closed on Mondays. There is no cafe seating inside, though customers often eat pies and sandwiches on a bench outside while passing through the village.
