Ross and Kathleen run this six-room guest house from a Victorian villa on Mayfield Gardens, a mile south of the city centre near Salisbury Crags. Each of the six ensuite rooms carries its own theme, from the Grand Jacobean to the Deluxe Tudor, and all have been refurbished within the original Victorian shell, keeping cornicing and period joinery intact where possible. Breakfast is cooked to order each morning in a candlelit room, with Scottish and vegetarian options built around local ingredients, and guests can retreat afterwards to the Rathbone Club sitting room. Free parking is available for anyone booking directly rather than through a third-party site, and wifi covers the whole building. The house has operated under family management for more than two decades.
