Kathy Thompson and Beccy Haydon opened Border Bean on Kington High Street in 2013, converting a former hardware shop into a coffee house that served locally roasted Herefordshire coffee, homemade cakes and a daily soup for lunch. After running the café for many years, the pair handed over to Rachael and Ahnya Lloyd, a mother-and-daughter team from a farming family in the parish, in early 2026. The new owners kept the same coffee supplier and introduced a Border Bean house blend alongside a rotating display of work by local artists. The light, spacious room has disabled access, baby-changing facilities and a run of outside seating onto the high street, giving this small market town near the Welsh border and Offa's Dyke Path a steady meeting point for locals and walkers alike.
