Breakwater Brewery operates a microbrewery and taproom at St Martin's Yard on Lorne Road in Dover, on the site formerly occupied by Harding's Wellington Brewery, which closed in 1890. The taproom opened to the public in December 2016, brewing cask ales, keg beers and ciders using chalk-filtered spring water drawn on site. Beers are served from a temperature-controlled cellar room on gravity alongside guest ales from other British breweries, and the taproom adds a wood-fired pizzeria, with pizzas cooked in view of customers. A courtyard and riverside patio host occasional live music and open-mic nights through the summer. The brewery is independently owned and brews chiefly for its own taproom rather than operating as a managed or leased pub estate. Opening hours run Thursday to Sunday, from midday or early evening depending on the day, with the site closed Monday to Wednesday.
