Cafe Smart

Cafe Smart occupies a corner unit on Belmont Road in east Belfast, run by owners Simon and Victoria since 2010. The café roasts its own beans under the Root & Branch label and rotates in guest roasters alongside them. An on-site bakehouse turns out scones and sweet traybakes each morning, baked in view of the counter. Breakfast and brunch dominate the menu, with a fry-up, smashed avocado and French toast among the regulars, plus soups, sandwiches and daily specials at lunch. The dining room draws a mix of locals and passing trade from nearby Belmont and Sydenham, with outdoor tables in summer. Cafe Smart has traded from the same premises since 2010, without opening a second branch.
