Campbeltown Pottery has worked from 11 Bolgam Street since 1997 under potter Simon Rochford, who throws stoneware by hand using glazes drawn from classic eastern Asian traditions. The workshop fires its pieces hard enough to be dishwasher- and oven-safe, and visitors can watch the wheel and kiln in use through the shop window during working hours. Alongside tableware in the Kintyre and Love Hearts ranges, Rochford makes money boxes, letter tiles and commemorative plates and bowls to commission. The pottery also supplies bespoke whisky water jugs to several Scottish distilleries, including Springbank, Laphroaig, Bruichladdich, Tobermory and Deanston, a trade that has grown from its position within Campbeltown's whisky-making quarter. The shop sits close to Cadenhead's whisky warehouses on the same street.
