Mull Pottery was established in 1975 by the late Peter Walker and continues to hand-throw stoneware at a working studio in Baliscate, just outside Tobermory, with a retail shop at 45 Main Street on the harbour front. Every piece, from mugs and teapots to milk jugs and salt pigs, is thrown, fired and glazed on Mull, using house glaze recipes named Sea Shore and Iona after the colours of the surrounding coast. Pieces are fired to stoneware porcelain at 1290 degrees Celsius, making them safe for oven, microwave and dishwasher use. Visitors to the Baliscate studio can watch pots being thrown and fired, and the shop will discuss custom orders and arrange UK postage for anything bought on the day.
