Cafe Fish occupies the upper floor of the CalMac pier building in Tobermory, run by cousins Jane Gill and Liz McGougan, who grew up in Tarbert and worked seafood kitchens including their family's Anchor Hotel before opening here. The pair operate their own fishing boat, the Highlander, which lands langoustines, lobster and squat lobster at the pier most afternoons around four o'clock. Monkfish, sole and other catches come from local boats, mussels and oysters from nearby farms, and bread and puddings are made in house. The dining room looks out over Tobermory Bay to Calve Island and the Sound of Mull. The restaurant opens seasonally, from mid-March to the end of October, closing over winter when the harbour quietens.
