Detail sells gifts, homeware, cards, stationery and jewellery from a shop on Market Place in Ambleside, set up by Heidi and now run day to day with her daughter as a mother-and-daughter team. The stock favours smaller independent and British makers, including Herdy pottery and locally produced ceramics, alongside a wide range of cards and stationery. In recent years the buying has shifted toward more considered, environmentally aware products, with fewer mass-produced lines. It is the only shop the family runs, trading from a single premises in the town rather than as part of any wider retail group. The shop draws both local custom and visitors passing through Ambleside, and stays open seven days a week through most of the year.
