Tommy and Audrey Mackay run Dornoch Farm Butchers on the High Street, selling beef and lamb reared on their own farm at Achavandra Muir alongside chicken, pork and venison, sausages, mince and roasting joints. Their son Kenny, a trained chef, works alongside them and helped the family expand in 2018 into the Coach House Bar and Restaurant nearby, where the butcher's own farm-raised meat now appears on the menu. The shop keeps shorter hours than a supermarket counter, open Tuesday to Friday through the day and Saturday mornings only, closed on Sundays and Mondays. The Mackays' connection to the land around Dornoch spans crofting and livestock as well as butchery and, now, catering at the Coach House, giving the shop a direct field-to-fork line that few small-town butchers can claim in quite the same way.
