Wolfburn Distillery sits on Henderson Park at the edge of Thurso, drawing its process water from the Wolf Burn that gave the original 1821 distillery its name. The current operation began distilling in 2013 under a private consortium with no distillery-group ownership, reviving whisky production roughly 350 metres from the historic site. Every batch is distilled, matured and bottled on site. Weekday tours run at 10am, noon and 2pm, taking visitors through the working stillroom rather than a purpose-built visitor centre, and finish with a tasting. The inaugural single malt launched in 2016 and has since collected gold medals in international competition. It is the most northerly working distillery on the Scottish mainland.
