Shân Tunsley opened West Coast Delicatessen on Argyle Street in Ullapool in January 2013, inspired by Italian delis she knew from a childhood in London and by later travels through Europe and the Middle East. The shop sells artisan and farmhouse cheeses, cured meats including a venison and Scottish pork salami, and a wider range of Scottish fine foods, alongside cakes baked on the premises and bread delivered three times a week. A small kitchen prepares rolls, soups, salads and bridies for takeaway, and the counter serves organic, fairtrade coffee. The deli opens every day of the year from half past eight in the morning until five in the evening. It remains family run, overlooking Loch Broom, and holds membership of the Guild of Fine Food alongside a Traveller's Choice award.
