Hic Wine Merchants runs its retail shop from Main Street in the village of Ledston, outside Castleford, where the business has traded since 1999. The shop stocks a curated range of red, white, rosé, sparkling and fortified wines, including organic and vegan options, plus whisky, gin, rum, brandy and vodka, along with oils, vinegars and soft drinks. An Enomatic tasting machine lets customers sample wines by the glass before buying a bottle, and there is an outdoor courtyard for browsing or tasting outside. The company describes itself as fiercely independent, choosing a focused list over a large one and building relationships directly with growers and producers rather than buying through national distributors.
