Terry Cross founded Hinch Distillery in 2016 on the grounds of the Killaney Estate, just outside Carryduff, investing personally in what has grown into the largest independent distillery in Northern Ireland, with capacity to produce up to four million bottles a year. Every bottle is conceived, matured and bottled on site rather than shipped elsewhere for finishing. Visitors can take a guided whiskey tour lasting around an hour or a ninety-minute Gin School Experience, both ending in a tasting, and groups can book a personalised gin blend with its own label. The on-site Hinch Brasserie serves food seven days a week from early morning into the evening, and a free shuttle runs visitors from the Hilton hotel in Belfast city centre. The distillery sits at 19 Carryduff Road, on land that was once part of a country estate.
