The Devon Guild of Craftsmen — a charitable company since 1987 — took the name MAKE Southwest in November 2021, and runs its gallery, shop and education programme from Riverside Mill at Bovey Tracey, a heritage building on the edge of the moor. The gallery shows and sells contemporary craft from across the South West — ceramics, textiles, wood, metal, print — and when the town's annual Craft Festival arrives, MAKE exhibits alongside it; the festival itself is a separate non-profit, a distinction the organisation is careful about. An independent charity with no council behind it, the shop helping to fund the education work.
