McParlands IndependentSuperstore

McParlands has traded from Monaghan Street in Newry for more than 35 years, built up as a family-run department store selling hardware, giftware, home accessories and furniture under one roof. A fire gutted the Monaghan Street premises in February 2006, following an earlier flood, and the family rebuilt rather than closing, reopening with a new showroom on the same site. The ground floor carries hardware, tools and garden equipment, including barbecues and outdoor gear from brands such as Weber and Broil King, while the upper floors hold giftware, kitchenware and homewares. The business has since added an online shop, McParlands.ie, alongside the physical Newry store, but it remains a single-site, independently owned superstore rather than a multi-branch retailer.
