Medina Bookshop

Medina Bookshop is an independent bookshop on Cowes High Street, opened in 2019 by Peter Harrigan after he moved his publishing base back to his home town. It carries mainly new books with a well-kept secondhand section, and it is known for strong naval and maritime shelves and a dedicated Isle of Wight interest range, reflecting the sailing town around it. The shop hosts author events and signings, works with local festivals, and is a National Book Tokens stockist. In 2022 it was named Best Bookshop for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in the Muddy Stilettos regional awards. It is a single, owner-run shop rather than a branch of a chain, and sits among the High Street's other independent retailers a short walk from the marina. For readers it offers both general stock and specialist maritime and local titles under one roof.
