Newbegin House is a Georgian townhouse built in 1746, run as a guesthouse since 2009 by Walter and Nuala Sweeney a short walk from Beverley's Saturday Market. The house retains original features including shuttered windows, polished wood floors and marble fireplaces, and its seven bedrooms sit alongside rooms filled with the couple's own collection of antiques, books and curios. A large walled garden lies behind the house, used by guests in warmer months. Walter continues to practise as a solicitor and previously served as a Member of Parliament, while Nuala worked as a consultant radiologist before the couple began taking guests. The guesthouse has appeared in the Good Hotel Guide every year since 2016 and holds a Visit England five-star rating.
