Rusbridge Family Bakery has traded from 53 London Road in Southborough since 1973 and is now run by the third generation of the same family. The bakery makes all of its bread, rolls, pastries and cakes on site, including rye, spelt and herb loaves alongside the shop's own Southborough Seedy and Rusty Special recipes, plus pasties, buns and savoury items for takeaway. The shop opens Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 2pm, and Saturday, 7.30am to 1pm, closing after the morning trade rather than running full days. Over fifty years of continuous family ownership at the same address distinguish it from newer bakery openings in the area, with staff baking fresh batches through the morning rather than delivering from a central kitchen. The bakery supplies bread to some local cafes and shops in addition to its retail counter, and continues to operate as an independent, single-site business.
