Kumquat

Alex Boyd opened Kumquat on the Pantiles in April 2022 with his wife Virginia, after a career that took in La Tante Claire, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon and the kitchens of Mansion House, where he once cooked for visiting heads of state. Virginia grew up around her family's restaurants and hotels in Hong Kong, and that background shapes a modern Asian menu built without the formality of fine dining. The restaurant holds an AA Rosette and has been named in trade rankings of the UK's top Asian restaurants. Boyd works the pass most services, and regulars can watch the open kitchen from the dining room. The setting, a converted Pantiles building, seats a compact room rather than a banqueting hall, keeping service personal even on busy weekend nights.
