Michelle Wilson set up Manic Ceramix on Camden Road in Tunbridge Wells in 2021, a walk-in studio where customers choose an unglazed piece of bisque pottery, from mugs and plates to bowls and figurines, and paint it at a table before staff glaze and fire it in the on-site kiln. More than a hundred different blanks are kept in stock through the year, and sessions run for all ages, from toddlers through to adults, with a dedicated late-night painting evening held twice a month for those wanting a slower, quieter visit. No booking or pottery experience is required for a standard walk-in session, and finished pieces are ready for collection roughly a week after firing. The studio is closed on Mondays and keeps shorter hours on Wednesdays during term time.
