Spinning Jenny

Spinning Jenny has traded continuously since 1960, when Jenny Whitaker first opened the shop in Bradley, near Skipton, to sell fabric, wool, and embroidery threads. Over the following decades the business moved between premises in Kildwick, Flasby, Hellifield, and Grassington before relocating, in February 2025, to a single unit in Skipton's Craven Court. Now run by Jacquie Morley and Stephanie Haithwaite, the shop continues to supply needlework and general craft materials, including full and part kits, pattern books, and haberdashery, to stitchers and embroiderers across Craven and beyond. Despite the changes of address over the decades, Spinning Jenny has always operated from one shop at a time rather than as a chain, and its move brought a long-established Dales name into the Skipton town centre.
