The Lochside Cafe occupies a single ground-floor room on Linlithgow's High Street, a short walk from the loch and the palace ruins, and is run day to day by its owner alongside her mother. The menu runs to cooked breakfasts, soup, toasties and traybakes, with gluten-free versions of most dishes made to order. Regulars use it as a stop before or after a circuit of the loch path, and the till is worked by the same two people most mornings. Hours stretch later on Thursday and Friday evenings than the rest of the week, a concession to passing trade once the shops close. It carries no ties to any wider cafe group, and the short menu changes with what the kitchen has bought that week rather than a set seasonal rotation.
