Weyfish trades from 1 Custom House Quay, inside the Old Fish Market, a Portland stone building designed by Thomas Talbot Bury in 1855 and still standing as a harbourside landmark. Owner Sean Cooper sources more than 40 species landed daily by Weymouth's own fleet, with over 70 per cent of stock coming from small, owner-operated day boats working lines, nets and pots rather than trawlers. Portland crab and lobster, hand-dived scallops and line-caught sea bass sit alongside mackerel, pollack, sole, turbot, brill, plaice, oysters and mussels, much of it landed hours before sale. Cooper has built relationships with more than 30 local boats to keep supply steady through the year. The counter has recently added solar panels, an air source heat pump and an electric delivery vehicle to cut running costs.
