Fiona Shiner planted the first acre of vines at Woodchester Valley Vineyard's Amberley site in 2007, testing whether the limestone slopes of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty could ripen grapes reliably. The first harvest, a Bacchus, came through in 2010, and further plantings at Doverow and Woodchester followed before the winery itself opened on site in 2016. Winemaker Jeremy Mount now works across fifty-eight acres spanning the three sites, producing still and sparkling wines rather than buying in grapes from elsewhere. The cellar door on Bath Road sells the wines directly and runs tastings and vineyard tours, while three self-catering properties on the estate let visitors stay overnight among the vines rather than driving in for a single tasting.
