Beadlam Grange grew out of a working beef farm outside Helmsley, opened by Jenny and Mark Rooke in June 2007 to secure a future for the family holding. The farm runs 100 Limousin suckler cows across 300 acres, and the butchery counter sells beef reared and finished on the land, sent about twenty miles to a local abattoir and back. Since 2020 the shop has expanded into a full food hall and delicatessen alongside a two-storey bistro serving breakfast and lunch. Mark and his son Peter now run the farming side while the shop stocks other local producers' bread, dairy and vegetables alongside the home-reared meat. There is a play area for younger children and dogs are welcome throughout the ground floor.
