Block & Bottle on Heaton Road pairs two things Newcastle takes seriously: Steven's free-range butchery and Katie's craft beer and natural wine, in what they say was the UK's first shop to combine a butcher's block and a bottle shop under one roof. Opened in 2017, it sources meat from named local farms and stocks small, independent breweries and growers, an owner-run single shop in a residential east-end quarter. Buy the chops and the beer to go with them, from the same counter.
