Botham's has been baking in Whitby since 1865 — "family baking since 1865" is the line the firm uses itself — and the business trading as E. Botham & Sons Ltd now spans shop, tea room and a large postal trade in Yorkshire hampers. The signatures are the Whitby Lemon Bun, sold in boxes of six to ice at home, and Chocolate Japonaise, or Japs, lately joined by a Jappuccino barista version. Biscuits and tea breads travel too; local shop baking can be ordered online and collected via Botham's To Go.
