Robin Hood's Bay and Fylingdales Museum occupies the village's old Coroner's Room and Mortuary, on Fisherhead. The building was bought on a 1000 year lease by Rev. R.J. Cooper, Vicar of Fylingdales Parish, on 31st July 1891; he had the downstairs room converted for the coroner and a mortuary built against its east wall. From 1900 it served as a Reading Room and library, which closed in 1987. Entry is free and volunteers run it, aiming to open 12 to 4 at busy times.
