Braeside Nursery was established in 1964 by Alan Hill as an offshoot of the family's farm in the Castlereagh hills on the southeastern edge of Belfast. It has since grown to cover more than two acres and is run today by Hill's nephew Mark, who took over management of the business from his uncle. The nursery grows and sells plants, hedging and shrubs across the seasons, alongside seeds, fertilisers and other garden accessories, serving both retail customers and wholesale trade buyers. Its range is built around year-round availability of plant stock rather than a narrow seasonal offer, with staff able to advise on planting and site conditions for gardens across the local area. The business has remained a single site on School Road throughout its history, rather than opening further branches, and stays in the ownership of the Hill family six decades after it began.
