Burnside Gallery & Frames occupies a corner unit at 48 Market Place in Selkirk and opened in December 2020, run by Charlotte 'Charly' Ternero, a Borders-based artist and graphic designer, and her husband Javier Ternero, a photographer originally from Seville who trained as a framer. The front of the gallery hosts a rotating programme of month-long exhibitions by Borders and national artists working in painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture. The back room is Javier's framing workshop, where he builds bespoke frames from oak, ash, and walnut using traditional joinery methods, alongside a stock of artists' materials. The gallery mounted a joint exhibition of ceramic sculptor Aleksandra Zawada and seabird artist Jim Douglas for autumn 2026. It opens Wednesday to Saturday, mornings and afternoons, and is one of the longer-standing independent galleries on Selkirk's Market Place.
