Cameron's the Baker is the last bakery still producing Selkirk Bannock in Selkirk itself, the town that gave the fruited loaf its name. Colin Kay has run the shop on the High Street for twenty-five years, continuing work his father did before him, and the business has traded for more than seventy years altogether. The bakery turns out between 250 and 300 bannocks a week alongside bread, morning rolls, pies, and meringue cakes, and supplies bannocks to Selkirk Distillers for their Bannock Gin. It opens from half six most mornings and stays open into the evening Wednesday through Saturday, closed on Sundays.
