Bob Lindo — an ex-RAF pilot — and his wife Annie planted eight thousand vines on their sheep and cattle farm above the Camel in 1989, and the family has never let go: son Sam, four times the UK vineyard association's Winemaker of the Year between 2007 and 2011, makes the wine. In 2018 Camel Valley became the first English wine producer granted a Royal Warrant, renewed to both the King and the Queen in 2024, and the Special Reserve was poured at a Buckingham Palace state banquet in 2023. The medals have not slowed — golds at the International Wine Challenge in 2025 and 2026 for the Pinot Noir Rosé Brut. A guided tour runs at half past ten each weekday and ends in a four-wine flight; otherwise take a glass on the terrace above the vines, pre-booked.
