Cholmondeley Castle Tea Room sits inside the walled gardens of the Cholmondeley family's Cheshire estate, a separate business run under the name Cholmondeley Tearooms Ltd rather than by the castle itself. Visitors who have walked the lakeside paths and rose garden can stop for sandwiches made to order, a changing display of cakes and tray bakes, and a proper pot of tea. Tables are set close to the glasshouse, with the castle's turrets visible above the yew hedges. The tea room follows the gardens' own calendar, opening only on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays plus bank holidays, with last orders as visitors head for the exit at four. On event days inside the grounds, such as outdoor concerts, normal table service is suspended, so a call ahead is worthwhile.
