City of Derry Crystal is a hand-cutting glass workshop in the Craft Village, in the old walled centre of Derry. It was established in 1991 and bought in 1994 by Michael Bond, whose son Kevin — trained at Waterford Crystal — joined him in 2003, making it a two-generation family firm and one of the last hand-cutting crystal businesses left in Ireland. Everything is cut and engraved by hand on the premises, to commission as much as for the shelf. In a craft that has all but vanished from these islands, watching the wheel take the pattern into the glass is worth the visit alone.
