The Watkins family has farmed at Cwmcerrig, on the Cefneithin road outside Gorslas, since the 1950s, and opened a farm shop on the site in 2008. Roland, Reuben, Stuart, Tom and Davina Watkins sit among the family partners running an 8,000-square-foot shop staffed largely by their own children and cousins. The butchery counter sells beef and lamb raised and aged on the farm, the bakery supplies the pastry counter, and a café-grill serves cooked meals including a carvery five days a week. The shop also stocks fruit, vegetables and other local produce alongside the farm's own meat. What began as a single farm diversifying beyond livestock has grown into a multi-generational operation employing a large share of the extended family across the shop floor, kitchen and farm. It draws customers from Llanelli, Cross Hands and further along the A48 corridor.
