Kirsty Bishop started Forest Friendly as a mobile refill business in 2019 before opening a permanent shop on Newerne Street in Lydney. The shop sells loose, package-free groceries such as pasta, grains, cleaning products and toiletries by weight, encouraging customers to bring their own containers or reuse ones bought in store. It also stocks locally made soaps, beeswax wraps and other low-waste household goods. The shop operates as a single Forest of Dean premises rather than part of a franchise or wider refill chain, reflecting its roots as a one-woman mobile operation that grew into a fixed shop with the help of community crowdfunding. It remains focused on serving Lydney and the surrounding Forest of Dean.
