Hillbark Hotel occupies a Grade II* listed timber-framed mansion in Royden Park, Frankby, on the Wirral peninsula. Built in 1891 as Bidston Court for soap manufacturer Robert William Hudson, the house was later bought by Sir Ernest Royden, who had it dismantled and rebuilt on its present site between 1928 and 1931, earning it the local nickname the house that moved. It now operates as a single-site hotel with individually designed bedrooms, a restaurant serving afternoon tea and evening dining, and the Solaia Spa. Original features including stained-glass windows and period fireplaces remain throughout the public rooms, alongside the Great Hall, the Library and the Krug Room, used for private events. Surrounded by parkland running down to the Dee estuary, it draws guests from across the North West for overnight stays, dining and spa visits.
