Lisburn · Lisburn & CastlereaghSurveyed

The Irish Linen Centre & Lisburn Museum occupies the Market House and Assembly Rooms in Lisburn's Market Square, a building that survived the town's 1707 fire and whose Assembly Rooms are Grade A listed. Lisburn Museum was established in the building in 1979, with the Irish Linen Centre added in 1994 in a purpose-built extension. Its permanent exhibition, Flax to Fabric, traces the story of Irish linen production, alongside collections covering local history including the Swanzy Riots and the two World Wars. Entry is free, with donations invited, and the museum offers guided tours and weaving and spinning demonstrations. It opens 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and operates as a single site rather than a network of branches.
