Kinlochlaich Garden Plant Centre grows and sells plants within a walled garden built for John Campbell around 1790, on the coast road between Oban and Fort William at Appin. The unusual octagonal enclosure shelters a wide range of trees, shrubs and perennials, including rare and unusual varieties, with a spring garden, woodland walk and fruit and vegetable areas to wander while you browse. It is a family-run, independent nursery rather than a garden-centre chain, and much of the stock is grown on for exposed west-coast conditions. Staff advise on what will cope with Argyll's wind and rain, and delivery is offered to parts of Scotland. Self-catering accommodation in Laich Cottage sits within the grounds for anyone who wants to stay over. The centre opens seven days a week through the main season, generally from mid-morning to late afternoon, with reduced winter hours.
