On the shore of Llandrindod Wells's Victorian lake, Lakeside Boathouse is an independent activity operator run by Jen, Lee and their team. Visitors can hire canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, rafts and pedal-driven pelicans, take out dragon boats, or rent standard and electric bikes to explore the surrounding lanes. The team also runs archery and axe-throwing sessions, bushcraft, canoeing and cycling courses, fishing lessons and rod hire, and hosts weekly junior fishing, paddle-sport and model-boat clubs. A parlour sells Welsh ice cream, hot and cold drinks and local gifts, and a community cabin is available to hire. SME News named it Best Boat and Canoe Hire Attraction in Wales in 2023. It opens daily, weather permitting, with booking recommended for equipment hire and courses.
