Lark Lane Pottery Classes runs from the old police station on Sefton Grove, just off Lark Lane, where potters John Ayling and John Parker between them bring more than sixty years of combined experience to the wheel. Sessions cap at a dozen students at a time, split across daytime and evening slots through the week, with beginners taught alongside potters who have thrown clay for years. The former police station leaves an unglamorous, functional room, better suited to clay dust and glaze splashes than a polished studio. Finished pieces are fired on site and collected once glazing and kiln schedules allow. Membership lets potters who have completed the beginners' course keep using the wheels and kiln outside class times, keeping the studio busy beyond scheduled lessons.
