Overton Farm Shop & Butchery sits on the working farm the Young family has run in the Clyde Valley for more than fifty years, since Willie and Liz Young began breeding cattle at Overton. Their children William, John and Mary Anne now run the business, and the farm shop itself has traded for twenty-seven years, built up from initial farm-gate sales of potatoes and eggs. The butchery cuts the farm's own beef, pork, lamb and poultry on site, and daughters-in-law Jane and Maggie opened the on-site restaurant, the Oven@Overton, in 2014. The family also farms at Nethanfoot, Dalserf and Hillend, keeping around a hundred Hereford-cross-Limousin suckler cows, and breeds and races horses in point-to-point meetings. Milk is sold in reusable glass bottles. Shop, butchery and restaurant all trade from the one Crossford site.
