John and Kim Coulson were fish merchants in Newlyn before buying this derelict former flower farm on the edge of Penzance in 2002 and planting 3,500 vines — Rondo, Pinot Noir Précoce, Seyval Blanc, Ortega — two springs later. The first harvest came in 2006, and the first vintage took the UK vineyard association's trophy for best still rosé; when the 2007 crop failed they turned to the orchard, and cider has been part of the backbone of the business since. The family now makes sparkling and still wines, Cornish cider and pressed juices, poured through guided and self-guided tours, a shop and the Vinehouse restaurant. The elderflower cider took gold at the Royal Cornwall Cider Championships in 2024. Coming off the A30, follow the small brown grape sign rather than the postcode — the farm sits down its own lane at Rosehill.
