A traditional family fishmongers on Fore Street in Porthleven, its counter stocked — weather permitting — straight off the village's own small inshore boats, topped up with day-boat fish landed at Coverack, Mevagissey, Polperro, Looe and Fowey, and Cornish meats from local farms. On a very good day the slab has carried around thirty-six species. The smoked fish has won properly named prizes: Taste of the West champion in the fish category for the oak-smoked haddock in 2016, gold for the hot-smoked 'Quayside Roast' salmon the year after. Fresh fish also goes out nationwide by mail order; the shop keeps short hours and closes Sunday and Monday.
