Raul Speek Gallery occupies a converted chapel on Main Street in Solva, opened in 1995 by the artist Raul Speek and his wife Heather after they moved from London to Pembrokeshire. Speek, born in Guantánamo, Cuba, trained as an artist there before appearing in a BBC Arena documentary that led to a studio in London's Spitalfields Market. His work ranges from paintings and limited edition prints to three-dimensional pieces and a recurring series of fish sculptures, alongside mural commissions. The gallery doubles as a small shop selling art materials, jewellery, cards and books, and Speek sometimes plays keyboard sets of Cuban jazz fusion for visitors browsing the space. It opens Friday to Monday through the summer season, with private events and workshops held by arrangement.
